Welcome to the February Newsletter from The Green Store.

NOT Recycling AGAIN
!

Recycling – a topic that seems to be forever in the news and on the lips of any Greenie!!!!!

In a recent article we found on the BBC News pages http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/sci/tech/7854137.stm we hear of many cases where recycling is failing all of our efforts.

As we are all encouraged to recycle, our thoughts and labours are put into doubt when we hear about recycling being put into landfill, or just stockpiled for years which of course adds to the constant struggles that recycling seems to cause.

With the 3R’s about to turn to the 4R’s – Reduce, Reuse, Recycle with Repair to be added, we welcome the make do and mend philosophy and the return to some old fashion values.

Remember going to your Grandad’s shed and there being jars with screws, nuts and bolts, Granny making preserves with the remaining jars – there was never enough to be found! The old tin cans would be used to place seedlings in, the milk bottles would be washed out and placed on the step for an exchange of fresh milk, and there would always be a sewing machine in the corner of the warmest room to make, mend and fix all clothes and linens.

With many of us growing our own vegetables, and adding chickens to our pet list, its almost like post war Britain......maybe by reliving the values of that time we would be able to see the difference this could make to the waste in the UK.

Now we are all off to make some chutney and a truly traditional patch work quilt!

Housekeeping Notes.

As mentioned in last month's newsletter we have unfortunately had to make some increases to our prices. These reflect the price increases that have been coming from our suppliers over the past couple of months which we have deferred for as long as possible.
We have also had to review our delivery costs due to the increase in packaging & courier costs. We have managed to maintain our normal Royal Mail prices & our maximum postage of £4.95 but have had to increase our threshold that qualifies for free delivery from £45 to £55.

We are sorry that we have had to make these increases but hope that you will understand.

To try and help make up for these changes we are offering our Newsletter Readers 10% off any order placed during February. To claim your 10% off, simply enter the code NLFEB10 in the ‘Voucher/Promo Code’ box in your basket.

Keep reading our newsletter for readers offers & competitions throughout the year.

Have a good month.
Best regards from us all!
